adiml: squeeing forever

Mar 07, 2010 01:01

Hello, everyone! This is my Friday, March 5th, in which I go see Copeland, one of my favorite bands ever, for the first and unfortunately last time, since the band is going their separate ways. ;_; In fact I didn't even think I'd get to see them this one and only time, but thanks to my wonderful father who drove me, and my wonderful roommate who went with me, I got to go after all.

Without further ado, here's my awesome day, in 70 pictures total, plus 8 embedded videos. ...Sorry. XD; I also apologize in advance for the ridiculous amounts of squee in this entry.

I wake up at this time, when I hear Emily leave the room to take a shower. This is a full half an hour before my alarm is set to go off, but my nose is stuffy, I'm too hot, and I'M ALREADY SO EXCITED.

Bedhead. Pretty good this morning.

Since I'm up half an hour earlier, there's lots of time for messing around online.

After a while, I decide to get off my ass and get some clothes on.

Now that I have proper pants on, I decide it's time to make my face presentable as well. Before...

....After!

So uhh at this point I go back to my room and discover Emily having a fight on the phone with her boyfriend. ._. Since I feel like a creepy eavesdropper, I leave for the dining hall to have breakfast.

I take a weird route to the dining hall today, since there's a dead robin with its wing torn off on my usual route. ...I dunno, dead birds freak me out like no other. .___. My college campus is covered in weirdo statues like this one (though the helmet isn't supposed to be there, lol).

Breakfast: cheerios and the Opium War. For my modern world class. My professor has this big thing with China. >.> I mean, sure, it fits into the curriculum, but an entire 370-page book on it? On top of our normal textbook? [/whiny college kid]

Some toast and some weak, very meh coffee. Godot would hate it. [/obscure video game reference]

When I get sick of sitting in the dining hall, I go sit in the academic building where my class is. My favorite spot, with a big skylight and comfy chair, is already taken. >.> So I settle for this far less comfy bench.

I don't get any pictures of the history class I was reading for (which is my only class of the day, woohoo!). I was kind of distracted, worrying a little about Emily and her sad boyfriend things.

My class lets out at noon, so I head back to the student center and go downstairs to grab some lunchies. That's a line for the touchscreens where you place your order, so I snap this picture and hurry to get in line before it gets any worse.

I get my food and head back to my room. IT'S SALAD TIME

I talk to Emily, and discover she and her boyfriend have patched things up, yay! So now we're all happy. I post a happy Facebook status!

Liz runs in and hijacks Emily's computer, so Emily lovingly calls Liz a bitch, hence Liz's face.

....The result of said computer-hijacking. XD;

It is now yogurt-ADIML time.

After yogurt-ADIML time, it's of course Copeland-packing-for-spring-break time.

Then Katie comes by and gives me and Emily homemade smores cupcakes made with love by Katie's mom. THIS DAY KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.

All packed, more or less. Since we're not going to be in the room for a week, I get some cleaning done.

This includes finally throwing away my old boots. :( I replaced them when they started to fall apart, but I got a lot of use over these and was quite attached to them for a while.

SEE I EVEN BREAK OUT THE CLOROX WIPES

A timecheck. My mama said she'd be there to pick me and Emily up at 3:30ish, so...I have some time to kill. I could do some of the reading I've been assigned to do over break....

....or I could just play Apollo Justice.

My sister calls me for a few minutes to tell me how the Shakespeare Festival went. The middle school where she goes, and where I went, has a long-standing Shakespeare Club that puts together a 30-minute production of a Shakespeare play, and they go to a local Shakespeare Festival where a bunch of schools compete. My sister was really worried about how they would do, since they missed a bunch of practices due to snow days. But it went well for them!

They were on the bus going back to the school from the festival, so all of a sudden my sister goes, "Hey, hey everybody! Say hi to my sister!" An entire busload of excited middle schoolers screams, "HIIIIIII!" into my sister's phone, which cracks me up. XD

My mom's still not here, so I pull open Word and try to do a bit of writing. ..... The cursor mocks me.

And my mom's here! Me and Emily pack up and head for my house. The plan was for Emily to come home with me, then we'd go see the concert together, and the next morning we'd take Emily home.

And it's my darling Mokie, so that must mean we're hooooooome!

Time check.

Emily goes to take a bit of a nap, while my mom and I look through the mail.

And I make myself a cup of GOOD coffee - not the travesty I had this morning (well, okay, it wasn't THAT bad, but yeah) - since I've got a long night ahead of me.

My dad gets home from work, yay! And he shows me all of the zillions of maps he's printed to get us to the venue tonight. That's my father for you, he's nothing if not well-prepared.

My mom and sister go to pick up some pizza for dinner, and Emily and my dad are both napping, leaving me the only awake one in this house. XD; At this point I start to feel super excited and nervous for the night.

To give myself something to do, I reapply my makeup. With added eye makeup this time!

The finished product.

And now it is time for noms!

Having my roommate and my family at the dinner table is a bit surreal. At this point I exclaim, "It's all my favorite people in one room!" and they laugh at me. XD

Change my top for the concert.

AND AT 6:22 WE ARE ON OUR WAY, OMGGGGGGG

We hit quite a bit of traffic going in to Philly. Nooo! And me, being me, gets extremely nervous.

We're finally to South Street! At this point, Emily and I just kinda hop out of the car and run the half a block to the venue. The show was set to start in fifteen minutes, and it had sold out by then, and I was so very glad I'd bought the tickets two weeks ago. This dude outside was all, "YOU GIRLS SELLING TICKETS?" and it was like, hell no, do you have any idea how long I've waited to see these guys!? So we just kind of...get our tickets scanned and run in.

There were three opening acts that night - Deas Vail goes first. At this point I was still like, "SDFADFDFF;KJ;KLJ WE'RE HERE WE'RE IN". Emily and I really liked them, though - after they were done, she bought their CD from the merch table.

Person L is on next. They were...kinda punky? I dunno, just not quite my cup of tea. But the lead had so much energy, we couldn't help but like them.

Setting up for the third opener.

I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business. We really liked them, too - the lead singer was so cute, he kept saying things like, "This is for all of you dreamers out there. If you want to learn to play an instrument, go for it. If you want to be a milkman, you can do it. Do you want to be on Jersey Shore? Do you want to be Snooki?"

AND THEN SUDDENLY AARON MARSH AND THE REST OF COPELAND WERE BEAMED DOWN ONTO THE STAGE IDK

So, I would've liked to get better pictures, but meh. This kind of happens when you're five foot one. Actually, right before Copeland came on, these tall assholes pushed through a bunch of us and got in front of me, and suddenly my decent-to-good vantage point was down to awful-to-decent. :/ I mean, I was having a great time, but I was a little disappointed about not being able to see that well.

Made me really glad I had my camera to hold up over my head and see what I could get.

Guhhh. This is only the second concert I've only been to in my life - not-quite three years ago I saw The Killers, which was just in such a huuuuge venue. So I mean, it was amazing being even this close to the stage, I have to say.

They played a lot of really great songs. I didn't hear Love Affair or Choose the One Who Loves You More, two that I was really hoping to hear, but they did do The Day I Lost My Voice (The Suitcase Song) which is what I would pick as my top favorite Copeland song, if I had to pick just one from my many favorites. (I maaaaay have teared up a tiny bit during that song, ngl.) Besides that, they played Take Care, Careful Now, I'm a Sucker for a Kind Word, Control Freak, Coffee, Eat Sleep Repeat, Pin Your Wings, No One Really Wins, On the Safest Ledge, The Grey Man, Chin Up, When Paula Sparks, California, and then Brightest and You Have My Attention for the encore. I'm not sure about the exact order - I had wanted to find a setlist before we left, but, well, with the way the night played out, that totally slipped my mind. ~*~FORESHADOWING~*~

Careful Now:

I'm a Sucker for a Kind Word:

Control Freak:

The Safest Ledge, another really good one from 'You Are My Sunshine':

The Day I Lost My Voice sdfdadfa;kj:

When Paula Sparks (well, a little bit of it, anyway):

I was trying to cool it with the amount of video, so I wasn't recording this one, but it just sounded SO GOOD live. And I liked what they were doing with the swirly lights on the backdrop, haha.

The tail end of California:

I wasn't gonna record any of this one, either, but they were just rocking out, idk, and the lights were so cool, and everybody was swaying in time to the music, and for a minute I totally forgot about the tall jerks and was just enjoying the hell out of myself, and I had to film it.

Okay, so. They finished up with California and went off stage. Everyone started chanting "One more song!" and stomping their feet.

AND THEN GOSH. I don't even know where these two came from, because I couldn't quite see, but I'm pretty sure they came out of the crowd - this guy just up and proposed to his girlfriend using Copeland lyrics in front of the whole crowd! Everyone was just screaming and clapping.

.....And then Aaron sat down at the piano and played Brightest, which is pretty much their mushiest song. And I died. And cried a teeny bit haha.

They finished for real with You Have My Attention.

The show ends and people mill about. Emily and I have to wait for my dad to drive back in to Philly to get us, so we just hang around in the venue for a while.

Emily's post-Copeland face.

My post-Copeland face.

And then ALL OF A SUDDEN OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL HE'S RIGHT THERE

SQUEEEEEEE. JUST... JUST... oh it's been twenty-four hours and I still can't form a coherent sentence. Just, to be seeing them for the first and last time, and having it turn out so amazing, really meant so much to me.

In the two weeks leading up to the show I thought in the back of my mind, gosh, it'd be cool if I could meet Aaron, but I bet it won't happen. AND IT DIIIIIIIID
AND THOSE JERKS WHO CUT IN FRONT OF ME AT THE END TOTALLY DIDN'T
(Well, okay, they might have for all I know, BUT LET ME HAVE MY DREAM OKAY.)

I think I managed to sound pretty normal when I was talking to him. XD I said I've been listening to them for a while now and that it was unfortunately my first and last time actually getting to see them, and I just really wanted a picture. XD; Aaron suggested that I step up on the slanted part for the picture so that he wouldn't look like a giant. (He was fairly tall, I suppose.) An hour later I realized he was basically commenting on my height (or lack thereof). XD

So now I will forever listen to Copeland and be like, "Haha I love you guys and Aaron Marsh does wonderful things with a piano and his voice and he called me short but in a very gentlemanly manner and I love you." Yes.

Emily and I went out into the lobby to continue to wait for my dad. .... Okay, so, I originally tried to take this picture without flash, because my camera does this cool thing where if you try to take a picture in low light, you can push a button and it'll automatically raise your ISO, and if you can keep your hand steadyish you'll get a decent low-light picture. Except my hands were so shaky I had to put the flash on. XD

Emily and I leave the venue in search of something to drink, we're both soooo thirsty. I totally wanted a picture of the marquee when we got there, but we just wanted to get inside on time then. And get away from the creeper who wanted to buy our tickets. >.>

We get some beverages and hide out in Jim's until my dad can come get us, and take cute pictures while we're at it. :3 I love this girl to bits and pieces, seriously.

The time in the car once my dad gets to South Street, and we head for home!

Home, and post-shower. It was late, but I felt kind of grody and in need of a quick hot shower, which felt amazing.

....Haha, I was so excited about that picture, I immediately downloaded it, fixed up the red eye in Photoshop, and set it as my profile picture on Facebook. XD

My body is dead tired at this point, but there's still so much excitement and adrenaline in me, so I play a couple of minutes of Apollo Justice to chill.

Strawberry Shortcake and I bid you all good night, and thanks for looking!
