So I got home from work today (yeah I got a job the other day, back at Marshall's, was kind of hoping to get something better this summer, but whatevs) and checked OneManga.com and saw that they finally had scanlations of Fullmetal Alchemist chapter 108...aka the final chapter ( Read more... )

I completely agree. They messed up quite a bit in the end of the anime, then they tried to fix it with this incredibly monstrous movie. Granted, I've only seen it once and it was years ago, but it just left me sort of blank.

AND THOSE PICTURES. MAAAANNNNN.

I lost it at "Everyone's waiting."

I also enjoy how they ended the military side, too. In the anime Ishval didn't really attain any sort of resolution and I'm VERY glad they kept Scar alive in order for him to attain a better purpose.

Okay, here is why the movie disappointed me from the start: before it came out, my friends and I were really excited imagining what would happen and how it would all turn out. We'd get all hyped up on sodas and joke that, "Oh, I bet alter-Al will build Ed a rocket and then Al will open the Gate and Ed will fly through ( ... )

I agree, I think it was rushed, considering there were SO MANY influential characters that needed a resolution. The chapter was sort of long compared to normal chapters, but, duh, it was the final chapter. Even rushed, I'm completely excited about the ending, but I still agree. I think if I would have been a bit younger, back when I was still just completely absorbing FMA for everything it was worth, I would have been gushing over it. But lately I'd just been wading around every month seeing what was going on. I hadn't even REALIZED it would be the end until you mentioned it in your status and I was just in SHOCK.

whoa, long comment.
ANYHOW.

YES. I skipped ahead right to where it goes back to the OneManga page to declare the end of the chapter and when they were just all like "ITS OVER NOW BYE" I had quite a bit of despair in my heart.

Yay! I'm glad the ending was satisfying. Those pages are very intriguing and squeeable and the one with their father is sad. **tried spelling his name and is pretty sure she murdered it, so eliminated that. XD;**

I definitely like the "redemption comes from living" aspect. I remember that was brought out in Rurouni Kenshin a lot, too.

I'm kinda sad that Ed and Al will be going in separate directions, but you're right that co-dependency is totally not healthy. XD;

Ooh, you're definitely right about Rurouni Kenshin. ^^

*nodnod* There is a two-year time skip between Al getting his body back and the two heading in separate directions, though. So presumably they just hung out for two years, I dunno. XD And it's implied that they did settle down eventually.

It was interesting though, Al was saying that they wanted to study different types of alchemy so that they could help people who'd been hurt by alchemy. (They kept referencing Nina, which just killed me. ;_;) I dunno, it was interesting to see them against alchemy, since they were so dependent on it for so long. That's the price Ed ultimately pays to get Al back, btw - he gives up his ability to do alchemy forever.
