Susanna Hopkins from Genshiken
Sue is one of my favorite anime characters. She is a meme spouting troll. She's an American otaku who likes to confuse or freak people out. When she was first introduced in the manga, she spoke solely in anime/manga quotes.It was hard to tell how fluent she was in Japanese. She somehow goes beyond the weeaboo stereotype to become awesomely meta!
Sagat from Streetfighter
I used to hate him. He was one of the most annoying bosses to fight against with his "Tiger" "Tiger Uppercut" spam. Also, he killed Dan Hibiki's father and he had this obsession with Ryu. Capcom retconned some things and revealed more things. He became more fleshed out. He gained a sense of honor. Go Hibiki's death was not entirely intentional(the guy took out his eye and the pain made him go berserk). He moved beyond his arrogance and lust for revenge. He even let Dan win a fight to keep him from going down the same dark path. Character development has made me appreciate him now. He still spams, though.
Sakura from Urusei Yatsura
She's a miko,a nurse and a counselor. She's one of the ladies who is able to know Ataru across a room whenever he hits on her(which is constantly). Actually, all the boys at Tomobiki HS have shown interest in her. Her strength(physical and spiritual) and appetite are both incredible. After eating more than what a restaurant could provide(including a whole cow), she was still hungry for dessert. She's the closest thing there is to a voice of reason in this series.
Sandwich Stoutaxe from 4chan
This character was created on the /tg board on 4chan. She's a Drow Paladin of Moradin. I think it's awesome to have a drow worship a good Dwarven diety. She was raised by dwarves and upholds their ideals. I like /tg's take on a good drow. She's cheerful and cute, instead of angsty. I find her straightforwardness refreshing.
Sasahara Kanji from Genshiken
The surname is listed first, since he's Japanese and he's mostly known by his surname anyway. He's the protagonist(or as close to one as possible in this series). It took me a long time to choose him,simply because I already chose another character from the same series. He's a fairly low key guy. I enjoyed seeing him grow as a person. He started out shy and rather intimidated by the otaku world. He ended up as president of the Genshiken, and eventually a professional manga editor. I liked that he seemed to have the 'mai waifu' feeling for the President from Kujibiki Unbalance. I really enjoyed his reaction to Ogiue's(whom he ends up dating) yaoi manga that was somewhat based on him and his friend, Madarame. He was pretty chill about it, and even reviewed it the way an editor would.
