Nah, I get why it's exciting, but the Desmond/Penny thing DIED for me when she was all like: ""I'm a cute, rich chick and I love you and WANT TO BE WITH YOU" and he's all like: ""Noouh, ay need to prooov mah worth" and takes off on a stupid race around the world... I don't find that sympathetic or romantic, I find it retarded.
So I have about zero emotional investment in this episode, thought the mindfuckery more than makes up for it. Off to look for crotch shots of our man now. ;)

that part is retarded which is why i didn't decide i liked them until last night LOL. OOOooo i request a crotch shot pic spam! chop chop.
Ohhh, I can't wait to see this episode! I was quite willing to believe that the Kate episode was an aberration, considering the quality of the first three episodes, so I'm glad to hear confirmation from you. It sucks that I have to wait till Sunday though! :-(
Regarding DesPenny, you're not the only one. I never got into them. I don't know if it's the fact that one half of the couple comes on screen about once every season, but I just can't get myself to care. For me, the way the whole thing is set up is so corny- rich girl falls for poor boy, cruel father keeping them apart, boy tries to prove himself...yawn...
I thought I should give it a few more days, but... nope. Still bored with the timetravel crap. Now... IF the EM spike and the sky turning purple and irradiating everyone except the Oceanic Six and for some reason Aaron (being born on the Island gives him immunity? I dunnno...) is the reason why people like Jack and Sayid, who were not close to it at the time, leave the Island, whereas Claire stays behind... then, OK. At least it's put to some good use in the story. I can deal with it as long as Desmond's conscience is the only one that does any of the silly Stargate: Pacific tricks.
I love Penny. I want a Penny flashback to see her efforts to find the Island, etc. Desmond and Penny and yelling frantic I love yous over the phone? YAWN indeed.
Oh thank God, all the DesPenny OTP Love on my flist always leaves me bzuh? I just don't care about them.
I mean hey I guess it would be nice to see them reunited and all but would someone please remind me why Des set off on his round the world boat trip again? Because it did not make sense to me the first time. If he wanted to prove his honour or whatever it was (I think the writers were watching too much Braveheart) then why didn't he challnge Daddy Widmore to a duel because that would have been less lame.
And plus I HATE HATE HATE her accent. It just annoys the hell out of me and I'm allowed to say that because I'm English. Heh
Btw I haven't even seen this episode yet, so I basically don't know why I'm commenting and I'm going to shut up now and wait for my dl to finish.
The thing with me is I like Penny better than Desmond. I find her search for the Island from the outside A LOT more interesting than his stupid Sci Fi channel timetravelling. So I want a Penny episode, even if you'd have to sit through her accent. Isn't Sonia Walger British?

Now that I've read up a little, I find one possible benefit of the timetravel borefest for the story, like I told Ishtar up there.
