Just a propos of nothing. James Lileks is one of my favorite Minnesotans and this makes me laugh not only because I agree with him and it proves once more why I hate the media and do my best to ignore it, but also because I've been to Rochester and I've met that type of Doomism.

That was a great read. I don't know how people can listen to the late news and then go straight to bed. It's ALL gloom and doom and disaster, ALL the time. I swear if an alien came to earth and had no contact with anyone except reading papers and watching the news, he'd run back to his space ship in a minute because who would want to live here? No wonder people are depressed when all they hear is negative stuff 24/7.
