I'm guessing you've figured this out by now, but I'll say it anyway. Money doesn't matter if you're unhappy. If you can, wait for what will make you happy otherwise you'll end up mean and cranky like me. : )
I'm already mean and cranky so I should be mean, cranky and rich while I'm at it. :D
I'll say no if I have to drive to the top of the mountain and back (which is daunting in summer, let alone when the roads are icy) and won't even have internet up there. Aside from that, I can be unhappy and stressed for two years (that's how long the construction project is going to last), there's just too many advantages. I don't even have to pay rent here, as opposed to the big city I wanted to move to.
One site is in practically a suburb of the city. Others are outside of small towns in the county. I could do those. I mean... I'd have to wake up early and drive about an hour to some of them, but that's OK. HOWEVER, there are also sites up on the mountain in between two villages I haven't even heard of (which makes sense cause they're building water treatment plants and bringing running water to places that have never had it) and those I'm just not willing to do, especially in winter when the roads are practically impossible. I don't mind the dust and hardhats and construction workers walking around in jeans and toolbelts otherwise. :p

Hmm... anything with money would tempt me at this point. But I don't blame you - I could never live far away from the city again. I'm not made that way.
Good luck however it ends up. You'll find what's right for you.
LOL. Yeah. I'm kinda leaning towards the money too. And I'd also be getting to do my JOB, which I'd given up on because I never thought I'd get a real shot at it outside of working for the EU bureaucracy.
I wouldn't have to live up on the mountain but it's really tough to get there in winter and I'd have to drive on those roads and get up as early as 5 am. No, thanks.
Oh crap, construction site translator is SO not a fun job, I hear you on that. Would you need to move to that middle of nowhere or just be there during workhours? Would you have internet access? If so, doesn't seem all THAT bad. ;)
As Flyer said though, money don't always make up for frustration at work. But if you can grit your teeth and keep in mind that it's not forever then maybe...?
