re : French class - you could learn how to put on the appearance of a 'super super super shy girl', one place to study is from any japanese cartoon that takes place in high school. The biggest thing to perfect is the smile. No one ever pressures those girls to speak because they are just too shy. Or else get really good at saying "I am far too shy to speak!!!" in French.
