So, yesterday started much like every other day. Woke up after an hour of insistent beeping, Takarazuka and Sailor Moon orchestras. Yes, 3 alarms are required to lodge me out of my futon on a cold winter morning - if I am lucky. ><
Anyway, so was casually minding my business and feeling hungry and went to the canteen.
Because I went earlier than usual I ended up sitting with a different group of teachers who were discussing, among other things, Girl's Generation.
So, being the curious Jim that I am, I asked what was it they were talking about.
I was replied to with a question - inquiring as to whether I like them. I do. I really do. They are adorable and their songs are SO catchy!!! (Gee gee gee x a million XD). I had barely finished my sentence when the teacher shoves a bunch of tickets towards me and asks: 'Do you want to go to a concert?!! With SNSD? They are playing.' I asked when.
'Tonight! Will you go?!' So...with reluctance I picked up a ticket and look at it. Sure enough, it was on that day and also, sure enough, it was way more expensive than I could afford. I told him that I wouldn't be able to pay him back until after payday, but he just pushed the tickets even more and said 'no no, free free!'
This is how I ended up with tickets to an SNSD event.
I ended up going with a few other teachers who were also happy at freebies and we had an awesome time!
It wasn't a concert as I had thought. It was an awards Gala - a bit like the Asian Grammys if I picked it up correctly. Prestigious by all means, and dating back a quarter of a century.
I saw many many acts including Miss A, GNA, 4 minute, FTIsland, CNBlue, Secret, Sister and, of course, Girl's Generation!!!!
The weirdest thing was that the whole night everything was presented or sung in Korean, translated into Japanese. My brain was all very much @_@ Where is my base language at??? DX But it was awesome!!!! <3 <3 <3
So awesome!!!!
And to present one of the awards they called upon this guy who was apparently the chief manager of the international department of Microsoft, Japan...and so fully not Japanese. Then he opens his mouth, and mine drops because out came this very smooth and undeniable Kiwi twang. XD
It was just...wow.
Oh and SNSD played last - they got the supreme award of the night!!!!!!! The biggest one out of the whole gala. <3 <3 <3 <3 So so so happy.
I loved them singing 'Taxi' and 'Bring the Boys Out', even though I only knew most of the words in Japanese XD Their costumes were to die for!!! I just drooled at Tiffany's outfit. It was my favourite - a deep, rich burgundy with cafe au lai lace trimming and matching riding pants with high boots. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 The amount of hearts cannot express the amazingness of the outfit >w<
Awesome awesome night! The stuff dreams are made of.
So happy!!! <3 Just an amazing day!!! Finished with a swirl of lolita shopping - Meta Lucky pack win! <3
Honestly, one of the most amazing days ever!!!
PS: G.N.A's adorable American English outburst was beyond cute! 'Oh my gawd, you guys! I won an award!' >w< I was surprised at how natural she sounded.
