I agree with Mel. I used to be more about the absence of desire and all that purity stuff back in my early days, and it (a) wasn't as fun and (b) a little annoying to others. Turns out that kind of philosophy just sounds good on paper. Sure, you can reach these really cool transcendental states if you try hard enough (I used to deny myself scratching itches as an excersise), but they're really not worth it. The purity of the nothingness you can reach isn't as cool as reaching superstates of somethingness. Says me.
