Is ST not one of the finest things ever committed to celluloid? And to think I nearly gave it a miss because I don't like musicals! Is it can be out on DVD time now pwease?

Yes, yes, oh, yes!

I just finished watching From Hell again and, although it's not a bad film, it does feel like practise for Sweeney - I think he even flicked out a razor (or a thin anatomy blade) at one point, which made me gasp a little.

Depp in ST reminds me a little of James Spader in Secretary, not that the films, characters, performances, or even actors really have anything in common - it's more just that someone once said to me that James Spader got old for only one reason: so that he could do that role. And I feel like it's rather similar with Johnny - I don't know how many more gentleman gothic anguish roles he's going to take, but I suspect this is going to be the apex of his career for me ( ... )
