I just lost my hotmail account because I hadn't logged recently enough. As a communication path I didn't really care about it, but as an archive of my past it's pretty painful to lose. Rationally I shouldn't consider it a great loss. The only significant things in those emails were memories painful enough that I couldn't really bear to read them. ( Read more... )

that happened to me, maybe four, five years ago. it didn't actually kill my account, but it did erase all the stored messages, so that when I logged in, my inbox was empty. now I make it a point to check once a week or so, although now all of the stuff that I really wanted to protect is gone.

Letters from the past are more lethal than a loaded gun. A gun must be fired, a letter must simply be read. The results? Well, lets just say I'd take a bullet any day before a painful past love letter!
