One of the few perks of my new job is that I can listen to music while I work. I need some good heavy metal to listen to at work. I have plenty of other good stuff I listen to on the job, but sometimes you just need to put up a curtain of noise between you and the world, and I find metal is the way to go. I've been enjoying Opeth lately. They have ( Read more... )

I don't have any suggestions, but what is your new job?

I work at CDF, its a photo shop that prints mostly kids school photos. Basically run a big printer. Its just a temporary job to earn some money because I decided to take fewer classes this semester. I'd like to find something better and more flexible so it will work better with school.

"Bal-Sagoth: The Chtonic Chronicles"

This sounds like it would be awesome ;)

I've heard good things about Mastodon and Meshuggah also. It looks like a good list.

Bal-Sagoth is so ridiculous that every once in a while it's totally awesome. ordinarily, though, it's just there to make me laugh when I see it. Seriously, the song titles alone are worth it: "To Storm the Cyclopean Gates of Byzantium" and "Six Score and Ten Oblations To a Malefic Avatar" are a couple of examples.

Got me there. But other bands I have heard referred to with the same adjectives you used might be Dreamtheatre (sp?) and maybe Rush? I don't listen to heavy music, so I'm not sure what to advise, lol.

I don't listen to a lot of hard music, but I like the new Smashing Pumpkins stuff. There's also Tool and Porcupine Tree (John's favorite), and I looooooove Rage against the Machine and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's first album. Love.

Tool and Rage I have already listened to pretty extensively, but I've heard like 2 porcupine tree songs ever. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is totally new to me. I'll have to check it out. Also need to check out the new Smashing Pumpkins. I loved some of there earlier stuff, esp. Siamese Dream.

It's funny, I went looking for metal, but Royksopp has pretty much been getting me through the day lately. Also, their videos rock.
