I think people across the pond are better prepared for the business world because that is their society's reality and mentality. Our nation's college and all around public education system, lacks in some areas yes; but then how come so many people come here from foreign land to get their education? It's because over here you have the freedom to decide what you want to do and then go for it. People come here because of the social and employment opportunities.

...but that is just my opinion. : /

Take all the time you need MA. Most people in life don't even walk away with a GED. : )
