Valentine's Day was a feast to celebrate St. Valentine who loved the Lord. The feast was in honor of his love for God and his great faith.
St. Valentine was first sent to prison for being a Christian, but he didn't stop there. He kept giving the gospel and making converts in the prison so he was beheaded by the emperor.
St. Valentine was willing to risk his life to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who needed to hear it. The Bible Says: "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." (John 15:13) St. Valentine demonstrated this love when he died for his friends and for God.
This is the kind of love that Valentine's Day is really about. Except people romanticize it and ruin the holiday. Just like they ruin Christmas with Santa Clause and Easter with the Bunny and eggs when really, those holidays are supposed to be about Jesus' birth and resurrection.
