Things are a bit of a whirlwind. Thank the gods that the weather has turned & we are more firmly in the season that Kaitlyn and I love the best

Although I understand the connection between hiding and enabling... the funny thing is that wearing fingerless gloves or gauntlet-style arm wrappings of various types is actually a developed coping mechanism of mine.
It goes something along the lines of: if you can't get to your skin in the first place, you can't cut said skin. I never really thought about it in terms of subverting what would normally be a hiding/enabling trick. But thanks for pointing that out - just one more reason to laugh at myself, and the crazy twists and turns my life has taken :)
So, anyway, the question is more like: should I buy this super-sized jar of Advil in anticipation that I might get a headache? or... should I buy these crutches on the chance that my next Great Adventure lands me with a broken leg?
It's like... umm, there's "being prepared" and then there's "ridiculously over prepared." Just trying to figure out where to locate my current (and anticipated) headspace.
(Just to be transparent: the aforementioned "headache" and "broken leg" are meant as analogous to the initial urge to cut, not the fait accompli cutting)
I had my wedding in October, and despite the end result of my marriage, the /wedding/ was absolutely fracking beautiful. Cool enough not to melt in finery, warm enough not to be frozen with the wonder and beauty of the leaves changing to offer a beautiful backdrop for pictures.
No worries about a collapse, I have faith that you aren't the person you were those years ago - You have tools and options she never dreamed could exist.
see... I'm using my "superhero" icon for this reply... because you just totally made me feel like I could fly faster than a speeding bullet & leap tall buildings in a single bound.
Which, actually, is a tiny bit redundant - since I'd have to question where the line is between jumping into flight (since I have the ability to fly), and simply jumping into a very tall leap... Ya know? Dunno if I'm saying this right, but, basically - Superman can fly!!! FLY, who cares if he can jump, too. It's a bit redundant.
Anyway, thanks ever so much for the inspirational words. I'm having a much more solid day today (even though the weather got hotter again). Can't wait to see you. And, yes, it is going to be an absolutely fantastic event :)
