I've noticed the LJ silence lately - beyond the decline when it was sold to Russia. Summertime slows it down because people have the good sense to leave their computers (even though now their computers are usually living on them as PDAs... yikes!) but I think teh twitter and facebook have confusingly drawn people away. As a guy who's anti-twitter, and on the ragged edge of anti-facebook, I can't find their appeal for anyone with an attention span or who has something to say beyond 140 character bursts. But you knew that.

I like facebook, but it has a completely different use for me, also my time has become less free so sound bites are all I usually have time for. Still I also do not twitter... if for no other reason than I don't want to be a twit.

I use facebook at work for those fast moments of non-substance vs. the more involved reading (and non-work-safe content risk) of LJ. They do have their place and purpose. I fear the only thing that would ever cause me to be a twit would be some woman who refused to communicate any other way, but then again, if I'm fallin' for those types, I gotta re-evaluate myself.

Glad to hear school has been going well--I'm very excited for you. My life mostly revolves around work, though my newish relationship is going well, and I'm taking him home to meet my family in a few weeks. :)
