Also, as per 'no concept of trade' - there once were 'gift-based' economies on Earth. It's functionally the same thing as buying and selling, but without the strict idea of 'value' that such entails. From the point of view of the Omatikaya, they are simply giving gifts to the Anurai as tokens of the two clans' friendship, and the Anurai are returning the gesture. There's no haggling or counting of items, because their value is a bit beside the point - each tries to match the other's gift not because of the items' intrinsic 'worth', but because each is equally committed to the friendship.
This is very true, but I wasn't going to get into a cultural anthro discussion with my reviewer LOL. Mostly because I'd already wasted enough time reading through the ASG and wasn't going to go looking for more examples with the links or references to back them up.
XD I was in just a little bit of pique. I have a tendency to go just a little lecture-y when I'm defending my position on stuff like this. I'm sure you know how that goes. ^_~

As per the guy talking about the fate of the Anurai, my answer would have been, "dude, it's an AU anyway, so shut up."
