The Bridport Prize 2006: May 15 deadline if you want to send your entries via the British Council Office. Entries are unpublished poems or short stories.

aWorldConnected Essay Contest: May 31 deadline online. About education and entrepreneurship in developing countries. In particular, how private schools could help meet (or not) the goal of primary education for all by 2015.

aBetterEarth Essay Contest: May 31 deadline online. About how economic development and environmental quality are related. If you think the people behind "sustainable development" are just spouting useless rhetoric, feel free to counter their arguments and show how your solutions could be so much better.

iLiberty Essay Contest: May 31 deadline online. About whether governments are right to intervene in the private health choices of people. Perfect if you smoke and feel threatened about society wanting you to quit.

Patricia M. McNamara Memorial Scholarship: May 31 deadline online. The winner gets a $5000 scholarship. The essay topic: "In 1000 words or less write about the best trait or traits of someone whom you have looked up to in your life."

Mind to Matter Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship: May 31 deadline online. The winner gets a $500 scholarship. The essay topic: “How can environmental health be improved through technical ingenuity or public education?”

The Fraser Institute Student Essay Contest: June 1 deadline online. Two winners get $1000 or $500 and the winner in the high school category gets $250. The essay topic: "Trade or Aid? What is the solution to poverty in Africa?"
