Tourist!

Man, it's weird to be a tourist again, especially after trying not to feel like one for so long. ("I'm a student, dammit, not a tourist!") Italy may be the most expensive tourist country in Europe, just so's y'all know. Also to note, they don't give student discounts to non-EU-ers and don't be surprised if you pay 12 euros for a pizza and it's... a ( Read more... )

Oh wowwww, god I fucking love Italy so much. It's like my favourite foreign country I've been to and I absolutely had to run off and start studying Italian after I went.. how is everything going? I'd love details. :)

It's good, it's good. We saw the Roman ruins today and I almost cried 'cause my memory card ran out... but then we got a new one and tried to go to the Coliseum, but it had closed like 10 minutes before, at 6:15. Well, they stopped letting people in, rather. So we went up to the grate and peered in and had a jealous moment at all the happy tourists inside. And then we got gelato. My sister got blood orange gelato and it was ridiculous. ZOMGZ. She says she's going to dream about it tonight. Also, I am ridiculously sunburnt and I have a tan line, er, burn line from a Venetian glass necklace I bought.. oh, so sentimental!

But seriously, I highly recommend Spain. You might have to change your favorite foreign country after that! Do it for a year, I swear to Gawd.

Ahh, like the forum? I thought it was amazing. And nothing in the world is like real Italian gelato.. nothing in the states at least... I can't even imagine blood orange. when I went to Capri, we went and got lemon gelato with fresh capri lemons, and it was like.. so acid-ey and fresh and it made our tongues sting. In the good way, of course.

I'm trying really hard for second semester. I would kill to go for a year, but I'm worried that with only being a sophomore, it wouldn't work well.. I really don't know...

Go for a year!! Take all the lame Spanish classes that are hard to get into before you've already taken them like I did! Go as early as possible; not only will it force you to grow in ways that will make the rest of college better, it will improve your Spanish and you will get better grades in the rest of your Spanish classes. Plus, it adds more time that you can go out, 'cause.. you can drink there!
