You know, th'serpent is a particularly misunderstood creature. Not precisely dampish in nature, I suppose it's ill reputation is largely owed to that little incident with Eve and the Tree of Wisdom. Oh, thank you for the kind invitation, Bella, but with all the hubbub in returning to school from the holiday I'm afraid there wasn't time. I'm ever so sorry I didn't reply to you sooner.
