For most of his life, Takaoka Eiji was driven only by the desire to defeat and destroy Gai and avenge his father's death. He had no need for friends, a wife, or family...no need for love of any kind. All he wanted was revenge.
He'd always wondered how he'd feel once Gai had been destroyed.
His journey to defeating the Ashu who'd murdered his father had caused him to cross paths with Nishihori Sakura and the Boukengers, a group of people who protected treasures. After the Ashu Gai and Rei got upgrades to become Questers, Eiji joined them, somewhat reluctantly, as BoukenSilver.
He became reluctant friends with them all, especially Akashi, who had some sort of romantic interest in him. The feeling wasn't quite mutual, even if Eiji had come to terms with being bisexual long ago. Akashi, was, in essence, Eiji's boss after all. A relationship was highly inappropriate.
But he was also positive that a relationship would not last. Takaoka Eiji had his eyes on someone else.
Her name was Nishihori Sakura...and she was the most intriguing person he'd ever met. From the moment he saw her, he vowed to himself that she would be his and his alone.
He and Sakura became close, due in part to some interference on the part of Gai and Rei, and they grew to understand each other...and Eiji soon learned to become the shoulder she needed to cry on when Akashi ignored her. They developed a bond.
Eiji knew that this might be as close to her as he could get, so he cherished that bond.
But, faster than he could stop it, his feelings changed and shifted and he grew to love the beautiful, yet cold Sub-chief.
Being in love scared the daylights out of him. He wanted to jump back and cut her off, but he knew that's not what a friend did.
Little did he know that Sakura was falling for him, as well...but so scared of her feelings that it kept her silent.
Until the night after the fall of Questers...
Eiji had always wondered how he'd feel once Gai was dead and gone. He was relieved, thankful, happy...he could finally close the book on that part of his life. But with it came a sense of emptiness and loneliness. He had nothing else to live for, but the new adventures he'd have with his friends.
But that wasn't enough.
In all honesty, it had never been enough.
Eiji wanted a wife... a family.
...he wanted Nishihori Sakura.
She was sitting in the salon, typing on that laptop the way she always did when she was busy or nervous. He slowly crossed the room and sat across from her.
"How are you, Takaoka-san?" She asked, primily.
"I'm alright." He murmured.
"Good." She murmured.
"What are you looking at?"
"My mother has informed me that it is high time I got married, so she sent over profiles of young men she wants me to meet. None of them appeal to me." She sighed. "They're just not my type. "
He looked at her and sighed, trying to get a lid on his thoughts.
"Sakura..." He rarely called her by name.
She looked up.
He swallowed all of his pride and laid his emotions bare. "I think...no...I know I'm falling for you...and I'm falling faster than I can stop it."
Her eyes widened. It's not possible... she thought.
"And I don't want to stop." He confessed. "All I want to know is if you love me back or if you feel ANYTHING for me."
She did...she felt powerful emotions when she looked into his eyes and everything seemed to stop.
He mistook her silence for rejection and nodded his head. "I understand." He slowly walked from the room but didn't get out the door before he felt her arms around his waist.
"I will settle..." She murmured. "For no one else but you."
Eiji looked at her, and he sighed. "Sakura..."
Suddenly, she kissed him, pressing herself into him and allowing herself to finally let go.
I will settle for no one else... She murmured.
