Room 313, Wednesday

Inara had no classes today, the hopes of a romantic date with Gavin tomorrow, and a public masquerade dance on Friday. The problem, of course, was that her face was blue todayShe was using various lotions and facial cleansers in an effort to remove the paint, peering periodically into the mirror and trying to tell herself that the color was at ( Read more... )

Anything that kept Gavin out of his room and that stupid voice he was going to take. So, as soon as he could, he found his way to Inara's open door and went to knock the door frame before just deciding to say something.

"Everything all right?"

Inara had been deep into contemplation of her reflection and color choices (was it more of a cyan, or an azure? What about indigo?) and hadn't heard the knock.

She shrieked in surprise when she heard Gavin's voice, and turned to face him without thinking.

"...that's unusual makeup," Gavin said since it was the first thing that came to mind. "In a good way! It's very...highlighting."

"It's blue!" She would have buried her face or put on a veil, but there was obviously no point to it now.

Jaina came back to the room from the gym, pulling her hair out of its short ponytail and frowning. "Um?"

"Religion class," she scowled, wondering if a mask of some kind would help. "The professor is insane. How are you?"

"It's a good look," she tried. "I'm okay. I feel like this is the first time in a week I actually have time. It's weird."

"Oh, shush," Inara wondered how Jaina'd take a pillow to the face, then decided she'd been in Fandom too long, if that was her reaction. "Busy week? You're still feeling healthy, yes?"

Someone quite literally bounced by. In a good way, the kind that involved still being on your feet. He took two steps backwards when he realized who's room it was.

He really should thank Inara, after all.

"Hello?"

Of course the whole world would decide to stop by to visit while her face was blue. Still, she heard Liir and couldn't help smiling over her shoulder at him.

"Liir, hello. Would you like to come in?"

"If you don't mind the company," he said as he stepped into the room. He didn't react to the blue in the least; when the face you looked to most of the time was green, it wasn't that big of a deal. Also, he'd spent the night with Andrew.

Oh look, Liir was funny colors too. A nice wine red across the apples of his cheeks.

"How are you?"

"I'm fine, if a bit more colorful than I'd intended to be," she told him, then noticed the blush, unsure of its cause. "Is everything going well with you?"

Romeo was also free from classes for the day, and also still blue-tinted. He was roaming the dorms out of a restless sense of energy.

Seeing Inara in her room, he paused to rap on the frame, as he remembered he hadn't talked to her in a while. "Good e'en, Inara. Have you had the luck of finding a way to remove the paint?"

"Hello, Romeo," she greeted him, then scowled. "I'm not sure. I haven't removed it completely, obviously, but I'm deluding myself that it's getting lighter."

"I fair scrubbed my skin off last night to only slight change," Romeo told her. "But yes, yours is fading. A bit."

He slouched against the doorframe. "I cannot tell what it was meant to teach us, other than not to trust Biff."

"Not to drink tea that we don't brew ourselves?"

Inara walked into the bathroom, returning with several pots of cleanser. "One of these might help, if you'd like to borrow them."
