Spike is seated at his desk, going over the last minute changes to the latest assinine proposal from the UN to the EDC - and how he got saddled with doing this, he has no idea, but there you are. If he had his druthers, he'd drop the whole damned thing in his document shredder and pretend the damned thing had never arrived

Cureall knocks before entering the lab, "Mrs. Witwicky? This one could not find the Ambassador or Daniel, so she thought to ask..."She notices Spike and looks embarassed, "Did she come at a bad time?"

Spike drapes his arm over Carly's shoulder as he casts a coolly appraising look over the minibot.

"Cureall," he says by way of acknowledgement, his tone a little distant. "Not at all. What can we do for you?"

She is thrown off by his tone. She walks in fully and gives a polite bow.

"Good afternoon, Ambassador. This one is glad she found you both. She has been told that Daniel has been grounded for a bit for a prank he pulled," Cureall giggles, "And as much as this one understands the need to disapline him, she would like to request that he be allowed to come to a party she is having for her birthday. Barring that, may she be allowed to take a present to him? She has been doing so for all her freinds."

She gives both Carly and Spike a bright happy smile, "This one would like permission from both of you if that is alright? May she take Daniel to the party?"

*hesitates, but doesn't let herself look at Spike.*

I... don't know if he'll be able to make it, Cureall.

It hurts him to be so detatched towards Cureall. He likes her, especially after their brief talk in the Nexus, but he cannot allow himself to be swayed by her youthful enthusiasm. He hates himself for what he is about to do, but he sees no other choice for the moment.

"We have decided that Daniel would benefit from having more human surroundings. He left this morning for a boarding school where he will have the opportunity to develop friendships with human children his own age."

Cureall's face changes,"Is this...because of me? I'm sorry!" She feels panic rise in her. "I'm sorry! What ever it was please let me fix it! Bring back Daniel and I'll never go near him again." She doesn't realize how stupid that sounded, she's just deperate to get him back. "I'm sorry!"

She didn't even get to say goodbye.

"There is no specific individual or event that triggered this decision, Cureall. It's simply that I don't feel that his life offers enough stability for a boy his age," Spike explains. "In time, I may entertain the idea of bringing him back, however, for the time being, it's best for Daniel that he gets a chance at a normal human childhood."

It's hard to look at her, and he hopes that she does not notice how he has kept his arm around Carly to mask the way it shakes. He should be better at maintaining his professional detatchment and calm.

"I would appreciate it if you respected our wishes, and made no attempt to contact him except through us."

Cureall doesn't like the way that's phrased. He 'may entertain'? That's like when she asked for the newest laser scapels and Hidall said maybe. It meant it was not going to happen.

She takes a breath, "This one understands. She will do as you ask." She gives him a stiff bow, "If you need her, she will be in Big Brother Perceptor's lab."

She shakes a little as she turns to walk out the door and tries her best not to hurry out too fast. But there's a sob choking her and she does not want either of them to see her act any way but mature about this.

She doesn't even make it all the way to the outside of the building before she her shoulders shake and she lets out a pitiful wail.
