I can't really figure out why any of those things would be considered funny unless they were done is such a manner as to distance the viewer from the character.

I can relate to your expeierce about finding a film more sad/disturbing/serious then comedic but I don't usualy pull as much out of those films as you seem to get from this film.

Then again I don't usually respond well to 'dark comedies' because they aren't really dark comedies, they are more style and cynicism. I can find dark things funny but it has to be from the character's point of view and not my own from the other side of the screen.

I don't usually watch movies because I easily get invested and so I need to be prepared haha its strange but true.

I'm not saying this dark comedy was all stle and coldness because obviously I didn't watch it but in general I can't stand that 'genre'. I get irritated by the artsyness of it xD

Cynicism and elitism-sometimes they can border on those two things. I don't think this film does that. At least, that's how I interpret it. ^^
