So... yesterday I woke up goughing my guts up - almost literally - I think my stomach was trying to exit via my lungs. :( Stayed in bed and doped myself to sleep as much as I could.
Today - still coughing a lot and my throat is raw, though I think my tummy (and behind-my-boob) muscles are getting a good workout.
Went to the doctors and got a "your throat looks clear and your lungs aren't rattly - it must be a virus". So "We don't know what it is - wait it out and if it gets worse, give us a call...
This is all (coincidently?) after they started me on a stronger inhaler for my asthema on Thursday. I asked if this could have had something to do with the chest infection as my "asthema cough" had been getting worse (and the fact I was ill for 2 hours after simply running to catch a bus and really worried Stephen) prompted the asthema checkup, but was told that it was nothing to do with it.
Although she did make a note that as I had cats and worked at a cat rescue and that cats are well known for making asthema worse (especially any "un-neutered, long-haired males). Now - I've had a cat since I was about 7. I didn't start having breathing problems until I was about 13... The only time working at the rescue makes me feel worse is changing the cat-litter as it's really dusty. (I'm going to get one of those silly builder's masks if I'm going to continue covering for Sarah).
I've had Mookie (neutered, but still "long-haired male") for two and a half years and it's only the last about 3-6 months I've started deteriorating with my asthema since it was first diagnosed after moving here (2 years ago). She did make a point that I might want to take up a different "hobby" (since when is saving lives a hobby - Volunteering at a cat rescue is not exactly like stamp collecting!) and did say that "I obviously can't ask you to get rid of your pets, but if it gets worse, it might be something you'll have to consider!" Grrr!
When I'd gone for the asthema check-up, the cat rescue was mentioned at the time, along with the smoking ban (now if someone is smoking within a 15 metre radius of me, it usually catches my lungs - even if they're 3 cars in front of me stuck in traffic) along with the fact we got a new carpet in the back bedroom, the new matress for our bed, the new car. In fact there were about another 5 things mentioned as possibilities, but all in all, it could be any one thing or a combination of all of them!
