Fine you jerks. Don't help me out with my hair dye decisions. I know you've read it and I know you've decided not to reply. I have a tracker. So there

Awww... sounds bad, all of it. Do the hair pink to compensate!
Where did you get that rat? :S They really should be checked on tumors and more before the shopkeeper/rescuer/breeder allows you to take it with you. Anyway, tumors are usually benign in rats, and the surgery to remove them usually isn't that heavy. Are you sure it's a tumor and no abces? The cure is totally different. And before you allow the vet to do surgery (possibly it won't even be necessary), make sure he/she does gas narcose and NOT injection narcose. Gas narcose has something like a 95% survival chance (probably more) while injection narcose is 50% lethal in rats :(. I wish you much courage... My sweet little Yvette had a tumor removal a month ago - I've been worried sick, and she has a vet-phobia ever since - though I also heard from cases where the rat becomes more docile afterwards. Good luck!
i say go blonde. sucks about the rattie :( It seems common for some reason in pet rats to get tumors. as for the gnarly cough and snot stuff, sounds like an allergy or something. HRM?
Also, call the pet store. They may have some kind of guarantee thing. They sold you a sick rat, you should be able to get a new one (which you probably wouldn't want to get from them anyway) or your money back.
