Author’s Note: Sorry this chapter took so long. I am suffering from so MAJOR writers block. This probably isn’t the best chapter but ya know I have not had much inspiration lately. Hopefully the future chapters come easier and faster.
The smell of the coffee was very calming for both their nerves, though neither of them knew why they were nervous.
"I’ ll order, is there anything special you want?", Pete asked.
" Nope. I think you know me well enough to know what I like.", she replied
" Ok. Want to go find a seat?"
" Sure."
The shop was small with just a few tables and chairs. The lighting was very dim which only allowed you to see the person directly in front of you. The burgendy and black interior paint didn’t help much it only obscured everything the more. Jamie decided on a small table for two that was palced near a quaint window. She sat down and ran her hands through her hair, contemplating wether she should leave. I don’t belong here. I know he doesn’t want me here. A few minutes later Pete returned to the table with the two beverages.
" Sorry I took so long they were having problems getting the brewer to work." He aploigized and handed her a double mocha cappichino with extra whipped cream. He knew her so well that somtime it scared her.
" Oh, it’s ok." Slowly sipping his coffee he stared at her. Little did he know this constant staring was making Jamie a little uneasy.
"Watcha looking at?", she asked
"I dunno." For some reason she was disipointed when he didnt say he was looking at her. She took a long sip of her coffee to break the uncomfortable silence. This silence didn’t ease her tension at all. And to make the situation worse he started laughing. Jamie gave him a sideways glare as if to ask why he was being so unlike himself.
" You’ve got a bit of whipped cream on your nose, just there." he said gesturing to the tip of his nose. He picked up a napkin and wiped it off her nose.
" Thanks.", she said with a slight giggle in her voice. " No problem." They finished their coffee in partial silence every once in a while one of them would comment about the wether or someone who walked by. The silence was finally broke by Pete.
" Is it just me or do we not have much to talk about?"
" I’m sorry, This is completely new for me I’ve never been on a date with someone I really liked. I’ve only been on one other date and that was with this boy from my church that my mom set me up with. My mom took us to a playground for God’s sake and instead of leaving us alone like a normal person does she stayed with us the whole time."Pete laughed, he had never had anything that embarrising happen to him.
" Well, Since we both finished our coffee, do you want to go to the beach or somthing?" asked Pete.
"Sure." Jamie replied. They cleaned up their table, paid the bill and walked out of the coffee shop. It was when they were leaving that Jamie moved her and had cautiously across her lap and Pete got the hint and grasped her hand. And with a sinle glance at eachother they knew things would be alright.
