who'd have thought you could spend an entire afternoon in köln without even leaving the train station. haha. but on a sunday, that's really the place to be, since no other stores are open and it was raining anyhow.

haha, i got distracted. but look at thisanyways. jason and i went to köln today and never made it past the front doors of the ( Read more... )

"Kölle" is Kölsch for Cologne. =°]

Most of the things you can buy at the central stations are more expensive than in usual shops, so pay attention to the prices. :)

Does the train to Frankfurt go through Cologne? 'Cause then you could just get on here, couldn't you?

I'm happy to read that your weekend was so nice. :)

ah ha. so the train's just going around the city.

that's actually one of the main reasons i didn't buy anything. i was wondering if i could find that stuff elsewhere. i've seen some of it at kaufhof, but it wasn't any cheaper, and since i have so little time, it might just be the best anyways, since it's all so central. i could just pop over to köln, do a little shopping and be back home. instead of wandering around either of the cities looking for that stuff everywhere else.

yeah, that's the worse part. the train does go through köln, but i can't get on there because my ticket doesn't start till bonn and it's an ice so my studentenausweis isn't good for that. at least 90% of the time they always come around after every new stop and check tickets. and i'd get busted. it would be ok if i were a schwarzfahrer on a last leg of my trip, as the ticketchecker would remember me but probably wouldn't ( ... )

you seriously would? i really don't want to ask, though. it's so early. not that early, but there are better things to do than get up early and trek off to the train station for a mere ten minutes. my train leaves bonn at 10.14 so i have to leave köln at 9.30 at the latest. which is too early. thank you though for offering! =D

he was high, i should mention. that might have had something to do with it

haha and they say it's the american's that are arrogant. Have you had problems so far there, with people finding out you were from america, due to that whole stereotype?

from all the things i've read, i'm just so astounded how well you've adapted there, i think it's so amazing. i don't know how i'd be at all. carrying 2 suitcases would have been enough for me!

doner as in those doner kebab things??

haha. you know, i've not had any problems. though most people do react a bit surprised sometimes, like i'm an exception or something. i've also been told that most of the americans they've met are also pretty untstereotypical. i guess it's that the ones who DO fit the stereotypes are the kind that just stay at home (in the states). whereas those who do care about other countries, know/want to know more about them and the people, and students, of course, are more likely to come here to europe, and that could be why. so yeah. no problems at all. i think i might have had problems, though, were i a bush supporter ( ... )
