talk about coincidence. i was moving in yesterday and the resident manager was walking by and we started talking, and he asked me what i was studying. i told him and he told me that he'd just moved a german girl in the day before and that we should get together, so i told him to hook me up. well, he actually brought her by tonight and we started ( Read more... )

Ah! That's great you're starting to get settled back in, feeling good about living back in the states for a while. I bet if I went off like that, I'd come back and just be depressed. Because I'm dumb like that.
BTw, Amber, how long have you been studying french? And how long German? I'm just wondering how long it took you to be able to speak as fluently as you do. Anywy, ttyl.

no no, trust me, i did feel like that. all depressed. but i've just been too busy since i got back really to sit around and wallow in my self-pity. and now that i'm back at school, what with the hustle and bustle of the beginning of the semester and seeing all my friends again...it really helps. i'm sure it will hit me again later, that i'm not in germany anymore...

french i studied for six years, but i've now lost a lot. lack of speaking and the fact that i was in germany concentrating on another languge didn't help me at all to retain it...

and i've been studying german for three years now. but the five months in germany were priceless. ABSOLUTELY a MUST for anybody learning a language. woow.

wellll. i went to germany. once you have a solid base knowledge of the language, going to a country where that language is spoken is the equivalent of several years at a college or studying on one's own. seriously. you should go abroad. =)

It's so great that you feel so good now. Missing Germany is ok, as long as you like being in the States, too. :)
