I finally found a book I remember reading in the 6th grade after looking for it off and on for a few years. It has always stayed with me - but I'm wary to reread it and risk spoiling my fond memories...

I loved these books at the tender age of 9 and was certainly not sophisticated enough to get the Christian imagery. Apparently there's a good reason for that as nicely elucidated here.

I went to the Tattoo Expo in Del Mar this weekend, and I've had an excited tattoo buzz since then. It was thrilling, with the buzz in the air from the scores of people getting tattooed, and us observers witnessing these acts of creation on their bodies! Do you agree that, by converting (back) to Catholicism and now writing about Christ's life, Anne Rice has reinvented herself in the only way more controversial than her past career in vampires, s&m, and gay sex?

Nope, just working - I have the 40 hours plus commute to show for it.

But I don't think I have been missed. Oh well.

When I spend too much time looking at nifty people here or elsewhere who have done all these neat creative hobby project intellectual meaningful things even though they are so much younger than me, I like to remember that even if I only live to be 65 (which is rather young) I still have almost 40 years to go ( Read more... )
