Surely Tuesday the 13th has to be bad luck somewhere. *rubs temples*

I got my car fixed, flushed, and formatted, and for reasons unfathomable they gave me a twenty-dollar discount. WIN. I got home to find my Christmas BPAL order had come in--double win. They left out a bottle, but I got what I need for the office gift swap, and I'll be emailing ( Read more... )

Totally! I'm like, "I think I'm expected to know that history has been altered, but...darned if I know how." I'm glad I plunged on despite my ignorance (ha! That's how I graduated college) because it was a good read.

The thing is, there are sooooooooo many jokey references, you're bound to get at least a few of them. I mean, I've never read Jane Eyre, but I've....seen the movie. Hey, at least I'm familiar with the story. ;D

But I loooooooove Napoleonic/Nelson era history, so I really enjoyed that. When Lady Emma Hamilton pops up? I was dying of laughter. And when they were talking about how Nelson wasn't really supposed to get shot at Trafalgar? Also cracking up. It's such a British thing to write. XD

Tuesday the 13th is the unlucky day in the Hispanic culture, don't ask me why but it is.
