Oh DEAR.

Oh dear, that is hilarious.

I now love Scholastic. I may eat them in a sandwich with pickle. *grabs Hovis and Branston) C'mere, you lovely huge mass-producing literature-spreading company of YAY!

"I can't believe that Scholastic is now printing books that are actually cheaper than dirt."

In this case, I feel it's safe to use LOL!!!

That is just too hilarious.

(And most likely, it's just a promotion gimick. Every once in awhile they come out with books that are insanely cheap, hoping to introduce people to a certain author, genre, or to reading in general.)

Well, how big is the book? The actual wholesale price of your standard mass-market paperback book is around $4, with the bookstore getting a 42% profit margin. Given that they're making thousands of those books out of the cheapest paper and ink possible, with the cheapest binding methods possible, I'm not very surprised. I mean, you can buy a hundred-plus pages of print with color and black-and-white pictures for $1 at a newsstand, right? (Even without ads, it wouldn't be much.)

But your observation at the end is still funny.
