HP:DH Chapters 19-24
You know those things that disproportionately interest me? Wands, and the wandmakers, are another one of them. Therefore, much love for these chapters.
Regarding the silver doe, the only appropriate casters I can think of are Ginny and Lily, but I don't really think it was either of them. White deer are a good old staple of British lore so I'm prepared to believe it was just a doe because it was a doe, not because it has any particular love toward stags.
Also, RON.
Xeno is weird. This is a world completely populated with crackpots, and he still comes off as weird. The weirdness would be about half from desperation, but still.... As Chekov says, if you hang and Erumpet horn over the mantlepiece in act one, it had better explode by act three. Good to see that law's still in play.
I really do not know what to think about the Deathly Hallows. I was pretty much with Ron and Hermione until later chapters, but even so, I can't imagine any reason to have them except to keep Voldemort away from them--like most cursed-up fairy-tale treasure, it's just better if it doesn't exist. I'm not going to spend a lot of time wondering about them. Good story, though.
Gotta love Potterwatch. It's just a shame it can't be used as a Podcast title--Potter's over, there's nothing left to watch.
And then everything after that is just kind of a big enormous WOW to the end of chapter twenty-four, and I expect that to continue pretty much straight through the end.
Expect one more missive for 25-32 and a final wrap-up.
