The Dark Is Sinking

They changed the Walker's backstory. THEY CHANGED THE WALKER'S BACKSTORY. Seriously, every new tidbit I hear is somehow even worse than the others.

Also, Vikings.

Now, I've never read the books, so I don't know much about them. However, that does sound like they're changing an awful lot. For the most part, I've never considered changes from book to film to be necessary.

After I finish the thousands of pages worth of books I have to go, would you recommend trying these ones?

Yeah, definitely, although I'll tell you what, the first one is the weakest: Over Sea Under Stone. You could probably skip it without much loss. Either way, it's a pretty quick read. Just know that the rest of them improve.

Right, isn't being immortal quite alien enough?

I have to say, though, I really want to read these books now.

I want this all to be just a cruel hoax!

(...I've also been meaning to re-read the series, since I originally read it sporadically and totally out of order.)

*grins* Okay, but the real question is...

... would it be better or worse if they added tentacled monsters?

Believe it or not, there is actually a tentacled monster--or something close--in the fifth book. So I would say, of course! Or at least, it can only improve things.

But what if the vikings are actually tentacled monsters?

Is the Greenwitch tentacled? I somehow always pictured it as looking like a shrub, but with eyes and teeth.

Which is probably not at all how it's described in the book, but I don't remember that one particularly well.
