I've been in kind of a weird funk for a month; I'm not sure whether to blame this project at work, my renewed caffeine intake, a thicker TV schedule, bipolar weather, or what have you, but I would love to be snapping out of it soon.
It's like this. I can't concentrate on work, so I just kind of skip around looking at various aspects of it, different other jobs I have to do. And then I take it home because I'm not done. And then at home I ignore it, but since I should be working on it, I can't concentrate on anything else, so four hours later the day is over and I've done absolutely nothing. And it's been like this for a long time.
Break the cycle. Go for a run every day, without fail. Do something that's the opposite of distraction, one that engages your body but lets the mind roam free.
On the other movie note, I saw Raising Arizona. I've never seen a better intersection of "Let's do THIS for fun" and solid filmmaking.
Oddly, all the Shakespearean dialogue didn't bother me, but what did is the fact that everyone in the American Southwest sounds like they're from the American Southeast.
On the subject of "A History of Violence" (which I thought was outstanding), one must remember that it was made by David Cronenberg, so if you were expecting something different from the guy who made "Scanners" and "The Fly," your faith may have been seriously misplaced.

Go soak in the bubble bath and treat yourself to a message. Or a day at the spa if you can.
Or take a weekend to go somewhere even if it's staying at a hotel.
