I, too, enjoy mid-century books (especially the trashy and the pulp) but for me, a library ought to be a place for newer things I wanted to try out or don't think I'll like enough to buy. While a used bookstore is where I can pick up said books for a buck or maybe even a quarter if I'm being especially lucky.

I guess I figure, if the choice is between a pulpy crime novel from the late forties and a pulpy crime novel from last year, the library should err on the side of modernity. I have about eight million librarians on my flist so I hope a couple of them weigh in.
