What do you people know about mineral makeup?? I'm eyeballing in a lj-kinda way at azhure here... lol... but I'm interested in making the switch but it baffles me so much I have no idea where to start. So if anyone can help

I use stuff from Ocean Mist Cosmetics and Mad Minerals, both online and in the US (much, *much* cheaper than buying anything in stores here, also vegan and cruelty free).
You really don't use a lot of product, especially if you have fairly clear skin to begin with.
The forums at Makeup Talk (http://www.makeuptalk.com/) have a good mineral section with lots of demonstrations and discussions of different companies. I had to try samples from about a half dozen different companies before I found foundation that worked on me (I have super oily skin). Most companies do free or very cheap samples, so it's easy to try a bunch.
I love, love, love mineral makeup - using it and the oil cleansing method has given me clear skin about 95% of the time, whereas before I pretty much always had acne.
If you want to ask me anything else, you can feel free to email me. I probably still have some samples sitting around if you have fair skin too.
Oooooh!!! Oh, thanks so much for your help! My skin is a medium, combination mess and not very clear at all. I'll check out that forum, that's what I was looking for, somehwere useful to lurk :)
thanks! I was thinking of getting their starter pack- i'm still umming and ahhing about it, and checking out other brands. All I'm hearing is rave reviews, it all sounds pretty good.
I like http://www.everydayminerals.com/ They are US, but not bad price and shipping relatively. They have tutes and stuff on how to use their products... I was a bit suss at first but it's all real easy, even the loose powder foundations, it's fool proof stuff, and feels awesome on. Their foundations/concealers/face/eye colours are all good, but the lip stuff is not so much, and they don't do mascara....
Thanks Sel- that's the least baffling site I've seen so far. And their prices are so good too! Thank goodness for the exchange rate for this type of thing.
Wellll I am the self-professed Queen of mineral makeup, having pathetically sensitive skin, a connective tissue disorder and a long-term job in a health food store :P Actually nearly all the brands you can buy in Australia have so much other shit in them and are so expensive, so don't even bother. I get ALL my makeup from everydayminerals.com, and even with postage it's still so. cheap. oh. mygod. I got a small kit about a year ago for less than $50AUD including postage, and I'm still using it. Yes you do only need a tiny amount. It is also a mild SPF and it has mild anti-bacterial properties. My skin hasn't looked this good in years... wah! And the most funnest thing for an artist is you can mix and make up your own colours n shit! wtf! It's so much fun! I use it for everything, eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush, lip color... teh awesomeness. Actually Selina got me onto that brand, she is a great online shopper :D Plus they do a sample thing so you can try it.
