“Everybody Down!”
Before Clark could react and deal with the situation, Lois latched onto his arm, pulling him to the ground with her. As Clark lowered to his knees he started feeling pain in the pit of his stomach and felt a cold sweat coming on. He looked around and then his eyes met Chloe’s. They both knew instantly, there must be Kryptonite around.
Chloe nodded towards Clark and leaned closer to Oliver, turning her head she whispered, “These goons must have kryptonite on them. Until we find it, Clark’s useless.”
Oliver looked at Clark with soft eyes nodding to what Chloe had just told him. “I wish I could do more, my gear is locked up in the Watchtower.” He whispered, feeling powerless as several goons walked around holding their assault rifles.
Smirking to herself, Ursula watched as the “heroes” lowered to their knees. She was about to do something when Zaden grabbed her arm and pulled her down. She glared at him, and he whispered, “Unless you want to expose us so quickly, its better we blend in.” she groaned at his logic.
As the crowd yielded to the gangster’s demands, Lois was still holding close to Clark. “Don’t worry Smallville, the Blur will save us, and me.” She whispered hopefully, “And then I’ll have my story for the night.” She cheered smiling at him.
He gave her a small smile, trying not to groan in pain in front of her. *How am I going to save everybody?* He asked himself.
Chloe was looking around, assessing the situation, hoping to get at least see if there was anything she can do when the doors at the end of the club opened and Choronzon walked in.
The goons quickly moved in, two grabbed him by each arm and dragged him towards their leader, “Let me go!” Choronzon shouted.
The gang leader stared Choronzon down, his rifle still at his side. “You will stay quiet or else I’ll make you into an example.” He threatened reaching for the handgun to his side.
Choronzon smirked, he was being held down by his arms, one human to each. “I wouldn’t threaten me, if I were you.” Choronzon warned, glaring up at the leader.
---------------------------------
Oliver leaned closer to Chloe, “Is this guy a fool?” he whispered.
“I don’t know, but I hope he wises up soon.” Chloe responded, fearing for the man’s life.
---------------------------------
The leader didn’t hesitate; he pulled out his gun and aimed it at Choronzon’s forehead, “I said QUIET!” He shouted his finger gripping the trigger.
“Go on, shoot me.” Choronzon challenged, smirking arrogantly.
---------------------------------
Lois held Clark’s arm tighter, “You just watch, the blur will show up in any minute to save that idiot.” She said confidently, only adding to Clark’s dismay and guilt. He was worried that a life was going to be taken because he wasn’t fast enough to act.
The leader glared and pulled the trigger. Lois flinched and buried her head in Clark’s chest who only shut his eyes. Chloe instinctively began to move to tackle the guy, but Oliver quickly grabbed her before she got onto her feet. The sound of the gunshot was quickly replaced with cries and screams of the terrified hostages.
---------------------------------
However the cries wasn’t long lasting, when Choronzon’s body didn’t fall lifeless to the ground, and his sound of laughter filled the air. “My turn,” he declared and jerked his arms backwards, sending the goons holding him flying back into the far wall hard. Choronzon spun kicked the leader’s leg, knocking him down. And before the door others could react, Choronzon jumped to superspeed and in a dark blur, circling the club knocked the gangsters down.
Choronzon then stopped at the center of the club, watching as the leader got back onto his feet. “I tried to warn you.” He said.
---------------------------------
Lois looked wide-eyed at Choronzon, “Oh my god, Clark it’s the blur!” she whispered excitingly to Clark who now looked pissed at Choronzon.
Chloe was speechless at what she just saw, turning to Oliver to see his reaction was similar to hers. “I wasn’t expecting that.” He told her.
---------------------------------
The leader threw his guns down, realizing they’d have no effect on him, “So you’re the infamous Blur,” he said reaching for a vile of liquefied kryptonite, he twist off the top and downed the substance quickly, throwing the empty vial when he finished swallowing it.
Choronzon just stared shocked at him ignoring his labeling of being the Blur, “Why in the world would you drink that garbage?” he asked.
“Let’s just say, it gives me the boost I need to get to your level.” He announced, punching a fist into his open hand.
Choronzon rolled his eyes, “Yeah, well sorry to disappoint, Marcus Munroe.” He said smirking.
The leader’s smile faded, “How do you know who I am?” He asked, pulling the mask off.
---------------------------------
Lois’s eyes widen, “Clark that’s the crime boss we put in jail last year for trying to blackmail the Mayor.” She whispered.
Clark remembered Munroe, it started with Jimmy coming to him with a picture of Munroe and Mayor Carleton wanting a reporter to team up with him to expose the truth in the photo. With Chloe’s help, they manage to discover a massive political corruption scandal that had plagued the city. Lois was out of town for a Monster Truck rally and when she returned demanded that her name be on the byline.
Ursula and Zaden watched excitedly when Zaden whispered, “When did the moronic duo bring this guy down?” He asked Ursula.
“I think the term used is Offscreensville, whatever that means. Apparently all the juicy events happens during that period of time.” She tried to explain.
---------------------------------
Choronzon was getting annoyed, “You know what, I’m tired, I just came here to catch a break and you ruined it, so I have no time for this crap.” He twirled his finger in the air, and suddenly in the palm of his hand, was the vial full of kryptonite.
Munroe instantly felt weakened, “But…how?” he muttered only to collapse by pure exhaustion.
---------------------------------
The crowed quickly erupted in cheer and applause shouting “Blur! Blur! Blur!”
Choronzon stared at the vial, and just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished, its molecules disintegrating. Clark subsequently began feeling better, and rose to his feet with the others. As Lois walked towards Choronzon, Chloe and Oliver moved closer to Clark. “Feeling better?” Chloe asked.
“From the Kryptonite, yes, but from that guy? No.” Clark stated, getting a bad vibe from him.
Oliver smirked, “It sucks when someone steals your thunder, doesn’t it Clark? Don’t worry, he isn’t mocking your outwear, maybe he’s someone who wants to join the team…” Oliver suggested, trying to make Clark feel better.
Chloe looked towards Choronzon, “I wonder how he got those abilities, or even if he’s human. Do you think he could be a Kandorian Clark?”
Clark shook his head, “They are all powerless, I just wonder who he is and what is he doing here.”
---------------------------------
Lois was grinning in awe approaching Choronzon, “It’s you,” she stated in disbelief, “it’s really you isn’t it?”
Choronzon arched his brow at Lois, “You know me?” he asked, surprised she recognized him.
“Of course I know you, we’ve been talking at our phone booth since…” her voice faded, her heart fluttering, “You’re everything I imagined.”
-----------------------------------
Ursula watched as Lois talked to Choronzon, “Lets get out of hear, I don’t really want to watch the Wonder Twins getting her heart broken.” She said to Zaden as she headed out.
Zaden blinked and looked around, “I don’t see the Exxorians anywhere.”
“I wasn’t talking about Zan and Jayna, I was talking about Lois’s rack, the older she looks the bigger they grow it seems. Now lets go.” She said leaving the club, Zaden right behind her.
--------------------------------------
Lois smiled, “There are so many questions I want to ask you…and not for a story or anything just” she blushed, “I’m sorry I’m rambling, I just never thought I’d get to see you for real.”
Choronzon realized what’s happening he looked around and his eyes found Chloe’s. “Lois, excuse me for a minute.” He said walking right towards those pair of green eyes.
Lois’s smile faded as she watched him head to her cousin.
Choronzon smiled at Chloe, “It’s good to see you again Chloe Anne Sullivan.” He declared, causing Clark and Oliver to freeze and turn their gaze to Chloe who seemed to just froze. He leaned closer, “I know you may not remember me,” he whispered, “but I made a promise to return to you. I’m sorry I haven’t been there through your darkest hours.”He held out his hand and soon a perfect white rose formed and he handed it to Chloe. “We’ll talk again.” And with a gust of wind, he vanished before everyone’s eyes.
Chloe remained frozen, as if she has just seen a ghost. She stared at where he once stood, eyes widen, feeling dazed and confused. In her heart she knows him, but she doesn’t remember him. She stands there feeling overwhelmed with what just happened and then a flash of clarity hit her. An epiphany as a tear falls down her cheek.
Clark looked at Oliver who only shrugged, and then moved closer to Chloe, “Chloe are you alright?” he asked.
Chloe blinked and looked at Clark, “He…he was there… he was there waiting…” she stuttered.
“Was where? Waiting for what?” Oliver asked.
Just then Lois approached feeling slightly betrayed, “Chlo. Why didn’t you tell me you’ve met the blur?”
Oliver shushed Lois up and Clark softly grabbed Chloe’s shoulder, “Chloe?” he was waiting for her to finish.
“He was waiting for me, he said...” Chloe swallowed hard and looked into Clark’s eyes, “He was there every time…every time I died.”
