I've never heard the term 'raman', but the descriptions of 'utlanning' (umlaut on the a) and 'framling' (again, unlaut on the a) match the connotations I remember from Swedish. I would translate 'varelse' as creature, but it could be applied to a ghost. 'Djur' just means animal.
