Thanksgiving menu dilemma

This year we are celebrating Thanksgiving with Chris' dad, sister, brother and his girlfriend, family friend, and my mom & dad. Chris and I will mostly be responsible for the food, but we've been accepting any offers of dishes that come along. This will be our first time meeting his brother's girlfriend. What else are you fixing? It's pretty hard to OD on potatoes at Thanksgiving, and roasted (my vote) is pretty different than sweet potato casserole.

However, if it's an already pretty starchy table, I'd save them and use them for sweet potato fries over the weekend with Thanksgiving leftovers.

I was also going to recommend the smitten kitchen link. I think as long as you do something quite different with them, it would be fine. Otherwise she might feel overshadowed.

There is a lot you can do with sweet potatos other than casserole. I agree with joyce, they would probably be awesome roasted, and not be too much like her casserole.
