yuletide!

Dear yuletide writer,

By offering to write for any of these fandoms, you are already awesome. Thanks so much for doing so!

Just remember: optional details are optional, and this letter even more so.

General likes/dislikes:

I'd love fic of any (mix of) mood(s) and length. Slice-of-life fic, character studies, vignettes, plotty fic - it's all cool. I quite enjoy fic in which nothing much actually happens, if that helps.

I'm a gen fan, but pairingfic (slash or het, also awkward triangles/other geometric arrangements) is fine too. However, I'm allergic to pr0n/smut/general sexual hijinks. If you want to write pairingfic, I'd prefer UST rather than passionate declarations of love/lust/happy fluffy romance/angsty doomed romance/etc.

Individual fandoms, with actual requests indented:

Un-Go

Characters: Kaishou Rinroku

I find Kaishou Rinroku fascinating, and I'd love almost anything featuring him. A deeper insight into his motives and personal convictions, more backstory, a pointed exchange with Shinjuurou, a look at what sort of father he is/was to Rie -- whatever. But I'd really, really prefer no pairings. (Only exceptions: unromantic UST with Shinjuurou, or his relationship with his late wife. Rinroku's thoughts on Izumi's obvious loyalty/affection for him are fine, too, but no reciprocation on his part, please.)

That's about it, I think. I've also watched the Un-Go movie, so feel free to draw from that as well. Oh, and I should stress that the exceptions to my lack-of-fondness-for-pairings are true exceptions -- unromantic UST with Shinjuurou (especially if accompanied by verbal sparring and/or one-upmanship!) or a look at Rinroku and his late wife would be amazing. :D

Natsume Yuujinchou

Characters: Matoba Seiji

I'd like fic that explores Matoba's character and treats him as more than just 'bwahaha-Evil', but without softening or excusing his ruthless edge. Backstory, exorcist politics (perhaps some interaction with Natori?), a straightforward character study -- any of that would be great. Fic that looks at Matoba's interest in Natsume would also be interesting, but I'm not really interested in pairingfic, sorry.

Feel free to include his interactions with other characters, especially Natsume and/or Natori! I've watched all the seasons of the anime, read up to volume 13 of the manga, and may well have finished vol 14 by the time Christmas rolls around. I don't mind spoilers for more recent manga chapters, either, though I might not catch references to events in them.

Philosophy RPF

Characters: any (the only nominated characters are Ludwig Wittgenstein, Bertrand Russell, and Gottlob Frege)

(Just to confirm: yep, I left the 'characters' field blank deliberately, and I'd be happy with fic about any one or more of these three philosophers!)

I'm interested in these three men largely because I'm interested in the question of what sort of person it takes to be a philosopher, especially in their fields. I'd be thrilled by fic which looks at language and logic and meaning, but in the context of their non-academic lives.

But if that's too pretentious, I also have a great and undying weakness for fic set in Cambridge (full disclosure: I did an MPhil there and loved the university and the city). Fic about Russell and Wittgenstein in the context of their academic relationship would be amazing - I can't imagine what it must have been like to be Wittgenstein's supervisor! Wittgenstein in Grantchester, with or without his friends, would be lovely. On that note, here's a handy collection of anecdotes (note especially the Russell-on-Wittgenstein ones): http://www.orchard-grantchester.com/grantchester-group/

I'm also very fond of Russell's writing style, so some sort of epistolary fiction would be great as well!

What I deeply crave is historical fic, but if you want to take this in a bit of a crack AU direction, e.g. a la this New Yorker piece, I'd certainly be amused. My background in formal logic is limited to first- and second-order logic, but if you did decide to include trickier stuff, I'd happily read up about it, heh. Not that you need to include any logic at all, I hasten to add.

Feel free to include other members of the Grantchester Group and/or other philosophers as well! And, er, as far as RPF pairings go, I'm not averse to them... but the general likes/dislikes apply. Nothing explicit, please, and preferably attraction of the purely and intensely intellectual variety, rather than the sexual one. x_x
