I got laid off today.

Which is quite problematic, in that my existing work permit expires in five weeks; and I need to have a job in order to get a new work permit (which is a several week process). So, uh, looks like I have a couple of weeks to find a new job; or I'll be heading.. somewhere else.

But I like my life in Le Montréal. In conclusion, if I have to go home, I'll see about visiting for a bit. Since I fly out of Vancouver, any way.

(Getting laid off a month ago would have been so much more convenient.)

The Amazing steffus (newly husband of diggerlicious) may be able to help in the job hunt - if he's back from their honeymoon n the Greek Islands...

Sucks to be laid off at this time of your trip though...

The timing is fiendishly inconvenient. A month ago, and I would have had a convenience of time to find a new job. Ergh.

On the upside, it looks like I might be able to organise getting another open work permit like the one I have; which will, hopefully, allow me to stay here.

tappity-tappity computer nerd.

(Although it seems I can get another year of work permit like the one I have, so abrupt departure is looking a bit less likely; which is the thing that is the current Biggest Problem. Work will be easy enough to find, getting to the point of having a contract before the current work permit expires was the big challenge.)
