OOC: First Memory
Relic can feel damp rock under his feet as he walks, as well as hear the trickle of water along with the footsteps of caused by him and another. A bag of some kind hangs from one of his shoulders, resting on his hip, and what feels like a piece of rock hangs from a string around his neck and rests against his belly. The air is moist on his skin. Abruptly he stops walking and so does the other.
“Wow! Look at that!” His own voice cuts through the near silence. “Look at all the gems sparkling!” He can feel his head turning to take in all of the scenery now. “Look over there! It’s a gigantic gem!” Relic hears the other move forward at the same time his own feet start moving. Are they going closer to look? “Wow! I’ve never seen a gem this huge! This is an incredible treasure! Everyone will be amazed if we take this back.”
Relic steps forward and grips the gem. It must be because it’s large and smooth. It feels bigger than he is. He can hear his own grunts and feel his muscles strain as he tries to pull it out, but it’s stuck tight so he lets go. “Nope, not budging…” He turns around. “It’s really stuck tight. Can you give it a try?”
The other person moves forward and he moves backwards, to make room probably. The other person’s grunts can be heard seconds later. But they seem to be having no more luck than Relic was. Relic sighs. “So you couldn’t move it either. But we can’t just give up. If we try hard enough we’ll probably get some kind of result! I’m going to give it another go!”
The other person steps back and Relic grabs the gem again. After straining and grunting for a few more moments he lets go again and stumbles backward. It’s no good. I can’t pull it out…” …But maybe…Relic steps forward one more time and pushes against the gem. The gem tilts in the direction of the push and there’s a click. Instantly everything starts shaking and there’s a sounds that’s almost a roar. “Huh? What’s going on?” He starts looking around as the roar gets louder. It sounds like… “It’s a flood!” He tries to outrun it, but a huge wave of water crashes down on him and sweeps him along. He can feel the sting of the water and tries to keep his tail above the surface.
