I had a nightmare about that damned THE HILLS HAVE EYES movie last night. I really regret seeing that movie, especially considering the fact that someone actually returned their popcorn to the movie theatre floor

Interesting, I like a few horror films like Evil Dead and Halloween is actually pretty good. But for the most part, the Horror genre is probably my least favorite. Up there with romantic comedies
Although most romantic comedies are so poorly directed/made they're more terrifying to watch than most horror films
Yes, I agree. I like horror films that are skillfully directed and well crafted. I guess one might consider them more along the lines of suspense. I also like M. Night's work.
Suspense pieces like those of M. Night's are in my opinion far superior to any straight up horror movie ever made. Fact is, most "horror" movies aren't in the least bit scary, nauseating the audience with one grotesque image after another isn't half as exciting or frightening as a film that builds up suspense to one brief but terrific scene. In that sense I think Night is quite a master at what he does, he keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what's going to happen next, even when nothing ever does happen
As Hitchcock once put it (para-phrased), "a bomb under a table going off is action. The audience waiting for it to go off, that's suspense"
