I'm in the middle of a hurricane right now. And I have my window wide open to cool down my room because damn, it's been ridiculously hot and muggy for the past two weeks. *fans self

The spy stuff is pretty ridiculous in Chuck, but that's what makes it fun - real spy stuff would be boring. ;) And the family stuff is definitely where the heart of the story is. I really love Awesome and Ellie and Morgan and their relationship with Chuck.
Yeah, I agree about SCC - I don't think I would've been in the fandom (although I might end up asking for it for Yuletide this year) but it was satisfying to watch in the best kind of way that I felt I didn't need fanfic. Kind of like... Veronicia Mars was in the first two seasons. I'm going to really miss it too.
the best i can say for having to download true blood (as i don't get hbo) is that i can fast-forward the sookie/bill parts. they have zero chemistry, which is disappointing in a leading couple. BOR-ING. but everyone else is pretty fabulous.
also, yes, leverage is AWESOME. :D i'm all *glee!* about it. (and not just because their hq - ie, nate's apartment - seems to be in boston this year.)
True Blood is kind of frustrating for me, because I can see where it could be well-written, gripping tv... and then they don't follow THROUGH (altho the past few episodes they've been good on following through with the Dallas parts, not so much with the Bon Temps parts). And yes, Sookie and Bill are boring. Actually what makes it bearable is that I watch the show with my dad (he'll watch anything HBO) and we snark together through the Sookie/Bill stuff. ;)
Leverage! I am very *GLEE* about it too. I am one episode behind though... should catch up! And yeah, it is in Boston this year! Do you often recognize landmarks and stuff? :)
i think they did a flyover during the premiere, but otherwise i mostly go "ok, that could be boston". and every so often they leave town for a con anyway.
Truer words were never written. That said, I still feel that it's better than the Twilight series which has all the gawk appeal of a five car pile-up in a snowstorm (doesn't mean we don't stop to watch of course. I almost bought the second book in that series tonight-- until I saw Stepahnie Meyer's endorsement on a novel by Cassandra Claire...)
Ohh, with 30 novels under your belt, I may need to beg book recommendations.
I've actually read all the Twilight books. I've even enjoyed parts of them in a non-ironic way. :P (although pretty much for the same reasons I hate/love True Blood - bad writing, unlikeable leads but intriguing premises and cool secondary characters.)
I enjoyed New Moon the best out of all the books- for a couple of reasons. One, Edward is hardly in it. Two, you can see the messed-up fallout of the Edward/Bella relationship for what it really is. Three, Jacob the werewolf kid is pretty awesome in this book (less so in the next book) and so is his pack. And four, there's even some rising plot in this book. So, if you're going to pick up any of them... New Moon is your best bet.
But if you want other recommendations, sure- hit me up. What genres do you tend to read? I read in a lot of different ones, except for mystery, true crime and suspense thrillers. Oh, and bodice ripper romances - not really my thing either. :)
We started watching Chuck a couple weeks ago and are enjoying it immensely. I've still only seen a couple episodes of Leverage, but I want to watch more. True Blood is one of the major summer TV obsessions in this household for the last two years, though I agree with you both about the writing and Bill/Sookie. It's just so darn addictive, and I like a lot of the supporting characters much more than S/B.
Chuck is just one of those shows where I don't really see myself following the fandom, but the show makes me happy just by itself. Leverage is also awesome. :D You should watch more!
Yep, True Blood - wish I could quit you but the supporting characters are cool, and I like the premise... I just wish it were better! Aw well, will take moments and episodes like episode 9, which was really good.

I am happy that we at least got two AMAZING seasons of the SCC... but I'm greedy and want more. *pouts*
