First, I want to say that I am starting to really have some fun and enjoy the photo a day project this year...though, I am sure it helps that I am slowly but surely starting to feel human again. As long as I don't move much or try to talk much, then I also don't try to hack up a lung.

He bought one. Cool. Does he already know how to play it?

Sort of. He is learning to play guitar and has become fascinated with other forms of stringed instruments. He also picked up a mandolin awhile back that he plays around with. In the photo here he had his laptop set up on the coffee table and was looking at some music for it online...at least he actually plays the instruments he buys!
