On Vox: Fat to Fit

Aug 10, 2010 11:15

You are all cordially invited to follow my journey from my current state of fat-sloth to running/walking a half marathon in March 2011...I've created a new blog on WordPress specifically for this:

Thirteen Miles

Will you be posting all of the running blog over to LJ or will we have to add the actual blog to our reading list?

I just read your initial post and am very interested in following it. I too played soccer most of my life but now that I don't I've gotten way out of shape. I do not like to run for running's sake. My husband runs and I have a couple of times decided I would start running so we could do races together but I just can't ever get into it.

I wish you well on this journey and will do what I can to support you and cheer you on.

Thank you! You'll have to add the blog to your reading list (there are RSS feed links in the menu on the left side of the page on that blog) - I am not savvy enough to figure out if I can synch the WordPress blog to LiveJournal.

And I appreciate the support! From just some initial listening I really like both the Running Mate 5K 101 and the Couch to 5K podcasts. They are both 8 week programs designed for true beginners - you run three days a week, every other day. And the first couple weeks are set up with short intervals of jogging and then walking. Ultimately, they are designed to avoid over doing things at first and gradually getting a person to where they can jog/run about 30-40 minutes non-stop. iTunes has both podcasts for free.

I've added the feed to my list.

I have heard of (and maybe even added) the Couch to 5K podcasts before but never used them. I'll check out the other one too. Thanks.
