That explains my only ever professional massage experience as well! EXACTLY. I didn't know I could speak up either, or I felt bad doing it or something... and my back is exactly the same, full of bone-hard knots. I hurt for a week after mine. Not relaxing at ALL.
I keep wondering if it would get better if I just went back more often, but I dunno...
EXACTLY. I was torn between thinking "should...am I allowed speak up about this? Is that proper etiquette here?" and "If I speak up is she going to be offended? :<" Now I know a little better, so if someone tries pulling that again I can say "Uh, hey, maybe not so hard I have a delicate back?"
I just love how, as far as I knew, I had no knots in my back. And now, after she supposedly worked one out, the muscle in that shoulder refuses to relax.
Heee. Some muscles get so tensed up you don't know they're tense. Or they've been so tense for slow long, you've stopped registering it.
My shoulder blades are hell. It does take nearly a full 60 minute session to get my shoulder blades less-knoty. And I think the refusing to relax thing is because the muscle isn't used to being out of that knot. It does happen. I think.
Well shoot, it wasn't bothering me any before now. If this is what it's like getting it unwound, I'd rather the knot stay there. I would like to be able to lie on my back again without pain. T_T
