So. I ended up taking my car to Pep Boys this morning because of a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't actually my battery but a battery cable that was the cause of my car's problems. While I was there I went ahead and got my brakes inspected--a light had been flickering on my dash about it and I had a coupon ( Read more... )

Ugh, Pep Boys. That was who we went to when they broke the spark plug off into our engine head, gave the car back to us broken and basically said, wasn't our fault, sucks to be you. We even had to push it across the street to the other repair shop (Ken's?). Pep Boys quoted us like 1,500 or something crazy to fix it. We are too afraid to go to Pep Boys ever again, or own a Pontiac again either.

The battery thing is common down there I hear. The extreme heat can kill the charge in the battery and it's typical to replace them every year or two even though most places have like a 5 year warranty or something, which works out good for the customer, only ever buy one battery in Arizona!

Yeah, so car issues run in the family ! We just had the Camry in the shop for like 6 weeks getting the body work done from a fender bender we had. They gave us back the car and the check engine light was on and there was a loud knocking noise under the hood. We immediately took it back to them to see what the heck happened, because it was NOT like that when we dropped it off. They called the next day and said we need a new engine and it's going to be $5500 !! So tomorrow morning our insurance guy is meeting me out there to look at it, because we know the shop did something and now they're trying to say it was already like that. WHATEVER, they're not pinning that crap on me!! Jenny
