car... un-fukt?

Progess on the car repairs ( previously, previously). Finally got hold of my insurance company (for a while I procrastinated, and then eventually their systems were down and they couldn't tell me anything useful) and got them to tell me the number. Looks like they're pretty much paying for all my repairs. So that's one less variable to consider. Now let's hope the auto body aren't crooks.

Saw Grindhouse this weekend. I liked Tarantino's bit, I guess... it had all the usual Tarantino stuff. And I guess I haven't seen one of his movies lately so it didn't seem like too much Tarantino. But I could see how if you watched some of his other work recently it might be a bit redundant. Rodriguez' bit was clearly tongue-in-cheek (and through the cheek and dripping onto the carpet and exploding all over the fucking house) and not quite the adoring wankfest like Tarantino's. It wasn't bad exactly but it came off as way too gimmicky. And in particular, if it's supposed to be making fun of it, he should've edited it down tighter. We know the fucking zombies are gonna kill everyone. So stop with the faux-suspense and just get to the gore already.

Also saw Day Watch again. Got some bits that were confusing the first time. But was still way distracted by the Russian dialog not matching up the subtitles. Apparently they cut the shit out of it for international release and so some of the things they say in Russian are referring to things I can't see on the screen. Frustrating. Banlieu 13 is still the best bang for your European action movie dollar (euro?).
